Coil bound booklet

Coil binding is a plastic spiral threaded through punched pages. The booklet opens fully and pages turn 360 degrees, so it takes up only one page of desk space. It is the most durable binding when pages are turned constantly and the booklet is used as a working tool. Well suited for workbooks, recipe books, manuals, training materials, calendars and price lists. Smaller quantities are ready in 2–3 working days.

Sizes and page counts

Available in A4 (210×297 mm), A5 (148×210 mm) and A6 (105×148 mm), with 8 to 200 pages and runs from 1 to 300 copies. The calculator selects the coil diameter based on the thickness of the block — you don't need to choose it.

Binding edge and coil colour

Binding is available on the left or top edge. Top binding suits products used as a pad — a desk calendar or notepad flipped upwards. The coil is black or white. Neither the edge nor the colour changes the price.

Cover options

• Printed Silk 250 g – front and back cover with your design. The most affordable and most common choice.
• Printed board 250 g – stiffer cover, holds its shape better.
• Printed 100% recycled fibre paper 250 g – Nautilus Classic, matte with a natural tone. A good fit when the environmental message is part of your brand.
• Frosted clear plastic cover – the title page shows through, the surface is silky and does not hold fingerprints.
• Clear plastic cover – fully transparent plastic, the most durable option. For printing on the plastic cover, contact our customer support.
• Frosted or clear plastic front, 250 g board back – the classic combination for manuals and training materials.
• No cover – up to 48 pages, the most affordable.

Papers

Inside pages are printed on coated Silk and Gloss papers in 115, 130 and 150 g, and on uncoated and 100% recycled fibre papers in 80, 100 and 120 g.

Coated paper suits photos and colourful designs — colours come out more vivid. Silk is semi-matte, Gloss is shiny. Uncoated and recycled fibre paper suits text-heavy content and anything you write on: pens do not smudge and the surface does not glare.

Rule of thumb for weights: among coated papers, 130 g is a safe choice for most booklets, 115 g suits high page counts, and 150 g works when the design has many photos — a stiffer sheet does not show through. Among uncoated papers, 100 g is universal, 80 g keeps a thick block light, and 120 g is for double-sided printing that must not show through.

When to choose coil, when another binding

Only coil and Wire-O binding open fully — the latter is metal wire with a stiffer look. A plastic coil resists crushing and springs back into shape, while a metal Wire-O can deform. Perfect binding takes less space and has a classic look. If there are fewer pages, the product does not need a long life and the budget is tighter, we recommend saddle stitching.
