Saddle-stitched booklet

Saddle stitching is the most common binding method for publications of up to a hundred pages. The sheets are folded, nested inside one another and stapled through the spine. The booklet opens flat, which suits catalogues, magazines, programmes, price lists and manuals.

Formats and extent

Choose A4 (210×297 mm) or A5 (148×210 mm), 8 to 100 pages and runs from one to 700 copies. Digital printing makes small runs as available as large ones, so you can order a single sample copy before the main run.

Papers

• Silk – matt coated paper with a silky surface. Colours stay accurate and the surface does not glare, so the text reads well under lamplight. The most versatile choice.
• Gloss – glossy coated paper. Images come out with more contrast and deeper colours, which suits a photo-heavy catalogue.
• Uncoated paper – matt surface with the feel of writing paper. It suits text-heavy publications and you can write on it with a pen.
• Nautilus Classic – white uncoated paper made from 100% recycled fibre. The most environmentally sound choice in our range.

Inside papers come in 115, 130 and 150 g coated, and 80, 100 and 120 g uncoated or recycled. Covers are 250 g silk, gloss, uncoated, board or 100% recycled fibre paper (Nautilus Classic). A 170 g silk cover is also available for booklets with lighter inside pages.

Round or square spine

You can choose a round or a square spine. A square spine is pressed flat, so the booklet stacks straighter and looks tidier. Below 24 pages the block is too thin for it; from 52 pages up we make the square spine only. The choice does not change the price.
